FORENSIC ENGINEERING + PROPERTY DAMAGE EVALUATIONS
Forensic engineering is the application of professional engineering principles and practices to investigate property damage and/or failure. By understanding the systems and materials of building construction, we are able to determine the cause and origin of reported damage. Our property evaluations include
Building envelope failure (i.e., moisture intrusion),
Wind-related related damage, including hurricanes and tornados,
Structural damage evaluations,
Plumbing failure, and more.
We also have extensive experience providing legal testimony, including deposition and trial appearances.
PREMISES LIABILITY EVALUATIONS
As experts in local, state, and federal code, Eighth Continent is available to provide legal testimony in cases that result in personal injury. Our expert evaluations include
Municipal ordinance codes,
State building and residential codes,
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) design standards,
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 101 - Life Safety Code, and more.
CONSTRUCTION DEFECT
Deviations from a construction design plan, specification, code, or standard can result in the adverse performance of a system or installed product. With over 12 years of private and public civil engineering experience in the design, construction, operations, and maintenance of underground utility systems (e.g., domestic water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer), we are able to perform Construction Defect evaluations to determine the cause and/or liability of a reported failure.
FAA Certified Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Remote Pilot (Drone)
Certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an Umanned Aircraft System (UAS) Remote Pilot. Aerial imagery is a powerful tool to view inaccessible or hard to reach areas, such as roof surfaces of structures greater than 2 stories.
